of-the-now

of-the-now is a collective of Chedo Barone, Jeff Morton, and Mitch Renaud, hosting occasions independently and in partnerships through online space and a concert series based on the homelands of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples, comprised of the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations in what is now known as Victoria, BC, Canada.

As part of our ongoing work, of-the-now presents concerts, festivals, and live events, and in 2020 launched an online streaming series entitled Archipelago to showcase performances, artist talks, conversations, and installations. Also in 2020 of-the-now has partnered with Stó:lō/Skwah scholar and author Dylan Robinson, in partnership with the Canadian Music Centre BC Region, and with support from the Canada Council for the Arts, on a workshop and presentation project entitled Decolonial Imaginings.

Workshop series co-curated by Dylan Robinson, Stó:lō/Skwah scholar and author of the book Hungry Listening, and Mitch Renaud, co-director for of-the-now. Involving six settler composers in a group conversations and the creation of imagined compositions in response to Hungry Listening, the workshop unfolds and will be presented to the public between July-October 2020.
